The
purpose of the Government Relations Committee is to: There
exists fellow citizens and politicians that do not believe in allowing
Fraternal / Charitable organizations the benefit of laws that allow us
to perform our charitable works. To protect our right to exist and to
prevent negative legislation, we must be ever vigilant in paying
attention to what transpires in our Legislature. It is the
duty of every member TO REPORT ANYTHING THEY HEAR OR READ that
concerns legislative actions/proposals/laws that may affect our
charitable works to their lodge’s GovRel Chairman. To
promote fair legislation, we must provide information to our political
leaders that shows how many people, how many hours, how many miles…how
much people volunteer to Charity, so that those politicians can and will
support our efforts and activities. The
best way we can accomplish this goal is ensuring our “Charity
Records Booklet” is kept up-to-date throughout the year. (This information is
also required to be uploaded and maintained on line in CLMS by the Lodge
Secretaries.)
It is imperative each Lodge records all their charitable and community
efforts; be it a public event, a Friday night dinner, fundraiser and/or
all other activities. To
facilitate the acquisition and proper reporting of data by each Lodge’s
Government Relations Chairman, it is imperative that each Government
Relations Chairman and any event chairman download and use the forms shown
below. REMEMBER: COLLECT AND REPORT Manuals & Forms Lodge
