Soccer is a fast growing sport,
especially on the West Coast. The Grand Lodge
begin to recognize this and developed two different skills
contest which grew into predominent status. The “Five Goal Contest” with its
succession of smaller target goals, lets younger participants
(U-8 & U-10) build their confidence as they move down the
line. It matches both
physical and skill abilities to the challenge they present. The “Grid Goal Contest” uses the
penalty kick distance to challenge the older participants
(U12 & U-14) to lift the ball from the field while aming it
for score, thus developing advanced skills.
The Elk Grove Elks are having their
Lodge Soccer Shoot at the Elk Grove Park on August 21st from 8:00 AM to
3:00 PM. You are welcome to
come see how it is done. It
is very rewarding to see the excitement on the participants face while
they are doing the skills test, especially the Five Goal Contest. This year the District Soccer Shoot in
on October 3rd at Sacramento 6 Lodge starting at 10:00 and the Northern
California Soccer Shoot is on October 17th at the Carmichael Lodge, also
starting at 10:00AM. If you are a Lodge Soccer Chairman and
want assistance with your Lodge Soccer Shoot please let me know and I
will furnish the equipment and balls for you to use.
All I need is a date that does not conflict with the Elk Grove
Shoot. If I can help in any
other way let me know.
